Alex Giarratano
Vice President, Marathon Capital
Alex Giarratano is a Vice President at Marathon Capital, based in the firm’s Chicago office. He is responsible for executing M&A and capital raise engagements in the renewable energy and power sectors, conducting due diligence, and supporting Marathon Capital’s relationship management responsibilities.
Since joining Marathon Capital in 2022, Alex has advised on a range of M&A and capital-raising transactions across the renewable energy, power, and broader energy transition sectors. Notable transactions include the sale of upper-tier tax equity partnership interests in a net 1.2 GW portfolio of operating wind projects across the U.S.; the sale of an 80% stake in EDPR’s sponsor equity interests in a 340 MWac portfolio of solar and storage projects in Texas and Ohio to Plenitude; and, most recently, Kyushu Electric Power Company’s equity investment in two 100 MW standalone storage projects located in ERCOT and owned by Spearmint Energy.
Prior to joining Marathon, Alex held several roles at ERCOT where he assessed the economic and reliability impacts of system operations and regulatory changes in the wholesale electricity market.
Alex received his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds both an MS and BS in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, with a concentration in Power Systems.
