Ann McCabe
Illinois Commerce Commission Commissioner, PJM Board Member
On February 1, 2022, Governor JB Pritzker appointed Ann McCabe to a five year term at the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). The ICC regulates Illinois gas, electric and water utilities and implements parts of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) of 2021.
Commissioner McCabe has years of energy and environmental policy and regulatory experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors. She previously served on the Commission from March 2012-January 2017.
As a board member for the Organization of PJM States, Inc. (OPSI), she addresses resource adequacy, reliability, interconnection and inter-regional transmission issues. PJM is the regional transmission organization operating the grid for 14 jurisdictions from Pennsylvania, New Jersey,DC and Maryland to the Chicago area.
In between terms at the Commission, for two years Commissioner McCabe served as the US Program Manager and Principal at the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) and for three yearsassisted nonprofit and trade association clients.
She serves on the advisory boards for Grid Forward, the Financial Research Institute, and the Institute of Regulatory Law and Economics (IRLE). She earned her master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago's Harris School and a bachelor’s in political science from Williams College.
