Ben Kim

Panel Director

Ben Kim is a fourth-year at Northwestern University majoring in Materials Science, Integrated Science, and Piano Performance. He is passionate about engineering the next generation of energy-efficient technology. His current research work centres on electronic materials for neuromorphic computing (which, if successful, is projected to lower energy consumption of AI by 100-fold). Last summer, Ben interned at a battery startup where he worked on a safer and more sustainable way of extracting mono/few-layer graphene from graphite for coating cathode materials to improve power density. Outside of engineering, Ben is also interested in learning more about the financial implications of such efforts, and hopes to help such engineering firms make smarter decisions balancing finance and science.
