Ian Wiese

Ian Wiese is the founder and CTO of Metcovery, a specialty metals recovery foundry focused on advancing circular metal value chains to support sustainable industrial practices. With expertise in sustainability and innovation within the metals industry, Ian leads efforts to decarbonize manufacturing processes and create more resilient, equitable supply chains.

In addition to their work in the private sector, Ian teaches sustainability entrepreneurship at Northwestern University, where they bring a systems-thinking approach to shaping the next generation of business leaders. Their approach is informed by a deep belief in decentralized, emergent systems that prioritize human and environmental well-being alongside profitability.

With a history of successful projects and a commitment to reducing environmental impacts, Ian is also pioneering a new venture capital model called Specific-Venture Capital, which integrates both project and venture financing to help innovators scale sustainable technologies. This model champions collaboration, ecosystem piloting, and the real-world testing of solutions to drive impactful change.
